Fuss-Free Summer Dressing | Spring Summer 20

It is a truism that summer clothes can be sartorially challenging...

So this season our design team took an edited approach; creating a wearable, design-led and uplifting collection with effortless style and practicality at its nucleus. And where better to test drive this capsule wardrobe than the rugged landscape of Lanzarote, with its unforgiving climate, windy coastline, and raw, volcanic beauty.

While we hope for an endless, warm summer stretched out like the open road...

It is best to temper your expectations – and your wardrobe. Utility dressing bestows a boyish energy on spring separates made for cooler climes; think worker jackets in muted sage green and stone tones, crafted in heavy cotton drill, worn buttoned as a shirt or loosely slung over ultra-feminine dresses.

Tailored pieces follow suit, falling in line with this utilitarian mood.

See a linen co-ord with safari signifiers, liberal pockets, and box-pleated palazzo pants, in a complexion-boosting shade of pale cinnamon.

This season’s prints bring a holiday feel to every day, infusing your summer occasionwear with a sense of escapism.

From a graphic trailing seed pod print on a bright Mediterranean blue base, Indonesian batiks, vibrant ikats, miniature elephants in the guise of polka dots and a sketchy floral with a crisp bite of apple green – these memorable motifs are an instant mood-lifter.

Trends are omnipresent as ever, but carefully reinterpreted for the modern woman.

Prairie influences retain their stronghold on the season, presenting a vision of femininity at its most ethereal.

Equally perfect for summering in the city and on vacation, modern prairie style comes in the form of shirred bodices, colour-drenched broderies, blouson sleeves, ruffle details, collarbone-enhancing necklines, rope belts and mix and match floral prints – all in a wonderfully sunset-soaked palette of wild rose, fuschia, sepia, marsala wine, and parchment.

On the other side of the fashion coin...

Denim jeans in a hot pink acid wash lend an of-the-moment 80s panache to a billowing shirt – a shortcut to 2020 style kudos – mini lengths on dresses and skirts make a comeback, while belt bags – both practical and playful – teleport a sundress, workwear suit or casual outfit into a territory which is achingly now.
